A large 9.8 carat solid black Mintabie opal set in 14k gold. The gem is astonishing - alone it would retail for over $10,000 at a high-end jeweler. The fire is brilliant, covering the entire gem from all angles - reds, blues, cyans, greens, oranges and yellows. The images do not begin to show the full brilliance or subtle shades of the fire. As the piece moves slightly, the colors shift wonderfully. At any angle, there is brilliant eye-catching fire. |

At some time I would imagine you would have this gem reset. At 2 areas we dropped the bezel quite low to prove that the gem is NOT a doublet - this is important at appraisal. Not to mention that this gem is worthy of a $10,000 setting. |
